I've recently just moved on to a new job and among the many things I had to get used to was taking the morning (note: peak hour) train to the Central Business District. I haven't worked in a place where I need to travel by the train in a long time so somehow it became something weird when I had to do so a few weeks ago.
The new office is not too bad, I actually have a window seat that has a great view of the GE building and then I wished I was in that nice building instead. The grass always seems greener on the other side.
I had bad sleep the first few nights I started on the new job due to the "newbie jitters". I suffered from mild low self-esteem for the next few days because of the nightmares that nearly convinced me that I suck at my new job.
I need to return with a better post. I promise.

sunday post
Yesterday I had a really nice walk at the trails with my best friends. They were having a conversation about some staff in their workplace when I randomly told them about my future plans.
I'm actually pretty worried about my future. Someone pointed out to me that I, like most people, don't actually have a plan for my future. A concrete plan. I'm either too busy preparing for one or I cannot be bothered with one. It irks me to think it's the latter. I probably haven't thought about what I want to do. I am not sure if I am actually going to apply what I am studying to my career. I would rather spend time healing and treating people than competing in the business world, really. I'll probably get over and done with this studies in another 15 months and meanwhile, start planning ahead for what I want to do.
Workload increased heaps the last week and reading up for my examination topics were reserved only for the nights. Han was busy too and we had no time for trivial fights. I met him for one day last week and most of the time, we sent our love over the phone or text.

random post
I am due for a visit with the Physiotherapist this week but I may give it a miss. I would prefer to have a physiotherapist do exercises with me rather an assessing how much I've improved. I think I know better than anyone else how much I have improved, or not. I would be stoked to have a personal trainer.
I haven't actually had a proper break since the Lunar New Year holidays and I'm feeling like I would really like to stay away from work at any chance I've got. Han shares the same sentiments too. We've been so overloaded with work individually, I am beginning to wonder if the recession is really as bad as it seems. My mailbox has gotten so large my in and outgoing mails were jammed all week. It was partially relieved on some days but eventually I have to get it fixed for good tomorrow.
Han said it would be a good to have a place in the East. I couldn't agree more. I've been here all my life and I can't think of staying anywhere else but here. It was really sweet of him to think about relocating to the East and not have me moved somewhere else. I had gone home today feeling like I haven't had enough of Han. The feeling is like a reminder why we really like hanging out with each other in the first place.
Life is changing...I have been thinking a lot about how to peel away all the extraneous shit in life and focus on the things that are important. I've also decided, that with the exception of working in an office and making a living, office politics and petty quarrels are a waste of my time.
Assuming the paycheck is steady and sufficient, I'd have a five-year plan laid out. The stuff that makes the list is marriage, family, mental health and physical health.

Simple Saturday
For once, I have nothing much to do at this time on a Saturday night. At this moment, I really like having nothing to do. I tried to read a book about the History of Hitler in political science but I couldn't figure out much. I had been frustrated with things at work all week. The first semester at school is ending in a month and I will have to do Economics next sem. Drats. Besides technology, I don't quite get along with figures.
I thought about getting a gym spinner and daydreamt about cycling with all my might at home. I have a thought about doing pilates as well but it's sure gonna hurt like hell.

speed trail...
I've begun some light jogging on a 13km trail recently, it's lesser impact on the joints and although I really hate getting mud on my shoes I have to admit it's the softer ground that I don't mind pounding on for now. I jogged, and walked when I got tired. It's something like jogging for 400m, brisk walked for 5 mins and jogged again. I did this the whole journey. It's really nice to feel myself moving faster now. I'm not up for speed, really. But it's so nice to feel the adrenalin getting back and it's really been too damned long since I last felt so free and so....tired, in a good way.

2nd post of the year
I haven't been a faithful blogger again.
I'm probably the only one who's noticed.
I have to admit that I have serious trouble getting psyched up for any kind of exercises these days. Walking is probably the only form of physical exercise I do frequently and automatically. I can't wake myself up as early as how I'd get up to train for a race in the past. I don't do reps because I hate counting or keeping count. I haven't given up on a full recovery. I am just taking things slow. Maybe a little too slow, I have to admit. Again.
But, good news is, I did something this evening, at least.
I did a reservoir walk.
This time, it felt shorter and quicker now, I probably enjoyed it much more than before because this evening I was walking with the man I am in love with. An easy 4.3km walk that took 45 minutes.
The winds last week was crazy. It was 10pm after class and I was stumbling my way across a field to the gate. I wouldn't have made it to the gate if they were headwinds. That kind of wind chilled me to the bones and it felt like it was gonna rain any time soon but it never did. It was just storming wind.
Just a few weeks ago, I developed an interest in making chilli paste. It began over a steamboat meal with the gals a few weeks ago. I decided to assign myself as the "paste maker". I had a recipe I was eager to share. Unfortunately, I sliced too many chillies and the paste became absolutely inedible. It was just too spicy for anyone's taste buds. My fingers were in inferno too and at that moment, I swore off chilli for the rest of my life. “I will never subject myself to that again”...
I tried washing and scrubbing my hands with detergents and soaps but nothing worked. I grabbed cold glasses and placed my hands on top of some marble surfaces, but to no avail. A few hours later, I was still in agony. I took the last resort of using salts to scrub. Someone told me that would work. I didn't want to believe it but at that point, you'd really want to try anything. Anything that might bring you a little hope of soothing the pain. It didn't seem to work, but I wasn't sure, because I was too tired to care by then. I went to bed hoping to sleep it off. And it worked.
When the pain was over, I decided I wasn't a quitter. I have to perfect the paste. Now I am still working on it.
We have a long weekend coming up. A day and a half to go. Woohoo.

2009. I need to kill the writer's block and get started on typing again.
I can't believe I've been away for so long.
I am finally walking fine now, though not as how I had been normally, but well enough not to limp awkwardly. You can't really be 100% back to normal recovering from such severe injuries I guess.
A cleaner at the other office had a freak accident that involved her feet getting rolled over by the gate of the garage while someone was pushing it back. A couple of fractured toes kept her from walking and working for a few months. When she returned, I asked her how was she getting on. She said, "I'm good, i can walk now but you know, not like before anymore...you should know better."
I am not exactly diligent in my physio exercises as well. There were always other priorities or the next day. I've been pushing the exercises away day after day, it's become a part of me I have no more control of, anymore. It makes me feel like the only natural thing to do is not to do anything about it. It's a shame, considering I used to train so hard even when there wasn't any race. I've figured out why. And this is possibly the same reason why I hate the gym. The leg raise reps or whatever exercises that come in reps and sets are tediously unvarying and I seriously hate counting. As compared to the lonely kilometers I had to clock on my long distance runs, doing physio exercises are worse. I can't let my thoughts race because I have to keep track of the number of reps, and I have no passing views to keep me going. Music is my only motivation but it just doesn't last. I wish I had a personal physiotherapist who can do the counting for me and make me work my ass off for the exercises. I still have dreams about me running. It's something my mind doesn't quit doing and possibly the only slightest thing that still exists in me to keep me inspired to run for real again. I need to feel the lactic acid in my legs again. It's been a long time since they felt like lead to me. It's time to buck up. After months of skiving and on the 1st day of year 2009, I'm actually aware that i need to buck up. Better late than never.
Having been back to work for almost a year, I still haven't gotten used to waking up early and happy. Sure, I wake up just in time to get dressed and not be late for work, but that don't go smoothly without rush and much grumbling to self that I should have slept earlier the night before. I'm always dragging myself out of bed every morning no matter how early I go to sleep the night before. And on weekend mornings, I end up sleeping the sleep of the dead. Maybe I really am plain lazy. It's not going to be easy now especially when I am going to attend classes twice a week after work. And that will mean sleeping late on those two nights and waking up feeling more tired than before. Meanwhile, I am quite keen on getting a new alarm clock. A second alarm clock.
Lance Armstrong's return to pro cycling is surely something to look forward to in 2009. That makes it 17 days more to his debut at Tour Down Under. I'd really love to find out how 2009 Giro d'Italia is going to turn out for him too.

Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington
Craig Alexander smoked the Kona Ironman World Championship last Saturday. I've always thought that he was going to be due a spot on the list of Champions of Kona. And I don't mean 2nd or 3rd place. The 'Live' Coverage was in the wee hours local time but it was worth battling sleep to watch it because the streaming was heaps better this year.
Michelie Jones bailed out this year because of a torn calf muscle that left her on the bench as a commentator with a few others...like Paula Newby Fraser.
Chrissie Wellington is seemingly invincible on the bike. She had a flat that took 10 minutes to fix but still managed to come in 1st at T2. And this year again, she crossed the Finishing line...with no more than two sponsors on her tri top to my surprise. She's proven she's not just a one-hit wonder.
She's incredibly fast.
